Common starting point: art above furniture often feels balanced when the full arrangement is roughly one-half to two-thirds of the furniture width. Treat that as a visual guideline, not a rule.

Length
Measure from the collar at the high shoulder straight down to the bottom hem.
Width
Measure straight across the chest from one side of the garment to the other.
Sleeve
Measure from the center back of the collar, over the shoulder, to the sleeve hem.
